Keeping it under control

• Only gamble with money you can afford to lose, and decide your limit before you start.
• Set a time limit as well as a money limit, and stop when you reach either.
• Never chase losses. A losing run does not make a win more likely.
• Do not gamble when you are upset, stressed, or have been drinking.
• Odds, tips, previews and other people's picks are opinions and estimates, not guarantees.
• Keep gambling as one of several things you enjoy, not the only one.

Signs that it may be a problem

• Spending more money or time than you planned, or hiding it from people close to you.
• Borrowing money, selling things or missing bills to gamble.
• Feeling anxious, guilty or irritable about gambling, or when trying to stop.
• Gambling to escape worries or to win back what you lost.
